The Business Council of New York State, Inc.,
the National Federation of Independent Business, the Buffalo
Niagara Partnership and Unshackle Upstate held a joint press
conference today announcing their support for State Senate
Candidate Jack Quinn. The announcement took place at
Redlinski Meats in Cheektowaga, an iconic small business
with roots in Western New York for over 75 years.
The Buffalo Niagara Partnership and Unshackle Upstate are
pro-business development groups dedicated to revitalizing
the Western New York and Upstate economy, while the Business
Council and the National Federation of Independent Business
represent, and advocate for, private sector employers across
New York State.
“I am honored today to receive the endorsements of the
Buffalo Niagara Partnership, Unshackle Upstate, the NFIB and
the Business Council. In my Five Point Plan I have committed
to reform state government, reduce taxes and rebuild Western
New York’s economy. Western New York’s revitalization
depends on the health, vibrancy, and sustainability of the
private sector and I and thrilled to have these
organizations’ backing as I continue to bring my bold new
ideas to every voter in the 58th district,” said Quinn.
Two weeks ago at ITT Standard, a heat transfer equipment
manufacturer located in Cheektowaga, Quinn outlined his plan
to reduce the tax burden on private employers and
incentivize job creation in Western New York. Quinn’s plan
calls for reducing the corporate franchise tax by 15
percent, and incentivizing investment in the manufacturing
sector, and both the high-tech and bio-medical industries.
Quinn also proposed solutions to the problems surrounding
the disinvestment, neglect, and sprawl affecting Buffalo’s
first ring suburban communities.
Brian Sampson, Executive Director of Unshackle Upstate
stated the importance of electing Quinn to the State Senate,
“2010 is a critical year for the people of New York. We must
elect representatives that want to do what is right and
necessary for the survival of our families and our private
sector jobs. Here in the 58th Senate district, the best
person for that job is Jack Quinn.”
Andrew Rudnick, president and CEO of the Buffalo Niagara
Partnership, noted that Quinn’s Five-Point Plan focuses on
cutting spending and taxes, job creation, pension reform,
Medicaid reform and ethics reform. “Not only does Quinn’s
plan address the expanding deficit and increased spending
our state is facing, he identifies responsible and logical
areas of wasteful spending,” said Rudnick.
Joining Rudnick and Sampson was, Mike Elmendorf, Executive
Director of the National Federation of Independent Business,
and Kenneth Adams, President and CEO of The Business Council
of New York State. Both organizations were on hand to
formally announce their organization’s support for Quinn.
Several weeks ago the National Federation of Independent
Business awarded Quinn as a “Guardian of Small Business” for
his anti-tax, anti-spending voting record in the State
Assembly; it is the organization’s highest honor.
Revitalizing Western New York’s private sector economy,
cutting taxes, and reducing government spending are part of
Jack Quinn’s Five-Point Plan for New York State.
